Choosing the Right Thermal Transfer Ribbon
Wax ribbons provide a cost-effective choice for general-purpose printing where high output and clear barcodes or text are the priority. They are commonly selected for paper labels and suitable packaging applications with moderate handling demands.
Wax-resin ribbons provide greater print density and resistance to rubbing, smearing and scratching. They are well suited to polyethylene and polypropylene films, coated or glossy labels, fine text, detailed graphics and packs exposed to more demanding handling.
Resin ribbons are available for specialist applications requiring high resistance to heat, chemicals or abrasion. Suitability depends on the receiving material and printer operating conditions.
